Protection of Civil Right Cell
In order to deal effectively with atrocities on the members of Scheduled Castes and Tribes, a Special Cell known as Protection of Civil Rights Cell had been set up by the Govt. of Maharashtra since 1977 at State Police Headquarters in the office of the Director General of Police. The Protection of Civil Rights Cell is now headed by Addl. Director General of Police. It oversees implementation of the P.C.R. Act 1955 and SC & ST (POA) Act 1989 in the State of Maharashtra and also supervises the work of various PCR Cells at Range and District levels, which are headed by Superintendents of Police.
